The Senate Chancellery Berlin first awarded the # COLOR AWARD award in 2018 for the special engagement of refugees. The award is endowed with a total of 6,000 Euros. The prize money is provided by the partner for Berlin Holding. The theme of this year’s award is „Encounters“. The #FARBENBEKENNEN Award recognises individuals as well as initiatives that create encounters between people from different walks of life and thus help to overcome divisions and hatred, reduce prejudice and contribute to peaceful coexistence in the city. A multi-member jury of civil society, politics, culture and business has selected five outstanding projects from all submissions. The winners were decided by online vote.

Negative headlines too often dominate the debates about flight and migration. The fact that many refugees contribute to our country is often ignored. With the #FARBENBEKENNEN Award, we want to make the commitment of refugees more visible to our society and make a contribution to overcoming social divisions. We want to show that refugees are our partners on the way to becoming a new us in our city.“
