FAQ - DO YOU STILL HAVE QUESTIONS? HERE ARE SOME COMMON ANSWERS.

Under the motto "WORLD CLASS", the #FARBENBEKENNEN Award 2021 will honour children and young people with a refugee background who excel as a result of their extraordinary commitment; whether in school-based initiatives or as volunteers in civil society organisations. They could be a class representative, a tutor for others, or engaged in environmental initiatives, neighbourhood assistance or other activities. The award is given for active involvement in school and social life as a child, adolescent or young person; for getting involved and for taking on responsibility.

The #FARBENBEKENNEN Award 2021 will present two awards, a Jury Award and an Audience Award.

1. The Jury Award
The Jury Award will be presented to one applicant.
As the name suggests, our jury will decide on the winner. This jury will consist of prominent people working in the fields of art, sports, business or politics, for example.
The winner of the Jury Award will receive 5,000 Euro.

2. The Audience Award
There will be a total of three winners of the Audience Award – a first, second and third place.
In a first step, our jury will decide which three children or young people will be nominated for this award.
Anybody can go online to vote for the three winners. The person with the most votes will take first place and whoever receives the second most votes will take second place.

The prize money may only be used for public benefit and not for private purposes.

You can apply for the #FARBENBEKENNEN Award 2021 if you...

- are between the ages of 8 and 16.
- came to Berlin in 2010 or later and now live here.
- actively help others, maybe at school or in a club.

We look forward to your application!
Important: because you are not yet 18 years old, we will need a declaration of consent from your parents or legal guardian in addition to your application.
Simply download the template, get it signed and upload it together with your application.

Are you a teacher or counsellor?
Are you a classmate?
Anyone can nominate another person for the #FARBENBEKENNEN Award 2021.

We have prepared a form for this purpose that can easily be sent by e-mail. Simply fill in the template, send it to your own e-mail address and forward it to the person being nominated.

The jury will meet in mid-April 2021 to decide who will be nominated for the Audience Award and who will receive the Jury Award. We will send you an e-mail after the jury meeting and let you know whether you were included.
Online voting for the Audience Award will begin in June 2021. If you are nominated, you should ask all your friends and acquaintances to vote for you.

Planning a live event is no easy task right now, so we ask for your understanding. The plan is for the award ceremony to take place in August 2021 at Rotes Rathaus (town hall) so fingers crossed, everybody, that the Corona pandemic doesn't upset our plans! If you are nominated for the Audience Award or if you are the winner of the Jury Award, we will of course let you know in good time – and you are also welcome to bring your family!

All children and young people who
- are between 8 and 16 years old,
- came to Germany as refugees in 2010 or later and now live in Berlin,
- have distinguished themselves at school, in a club or organisation as a result of special commitment or helping others.

Important: the prize money may only be used for charitable purposes related to the winners’ project, school, club or organisation.
